Barefoot Silk Wedding Dress for a Forest Wedding

Barefoot Silk Wedding Dress for a Forest Wedding

I made this custom silk wedding dress for a barefoot forest wedding in the US, featuring hand dyed silk, layered textures, and an effortlessly organic silhouette designed entirely remotely.

Barefoot Silk Wedding Dress for a Forest Wedding

Johanna reached out to have her dress custom made with a clear vision: something light, effortless, and freeing. Natural fabrics felt like the perfect choice for the way they chose to celebrate, immersed in the forest, barefoot, and even under a soft rain. As you can see from the photos, it was a fully immersive experience, a genuine and living connection with nature.

An Ethereal, Nature-inspired Custom Wedding Dress

This ethereal, nature-inspired bespoke wedding dress is made entirely from luxurious silk and designed to feel as light and free as possible. The silhouette is soft and flowy, moving effortlessly with the body. The bodice is simple and delicate, with thin straps and a gently defined waist that flatters without ever feeling restrictive.

What makes this piece truly special is the sheer overlay skirt in precious tulle, embroidered with soft floral motifs. It adds movement, texture, and that slightly wild, romantic feel almost like the dress is blending into the landscape. As it catches the light and shifts with every step, it creates a really unique, layered effect.

A weightless, draped overlay falls gently over the shoulders like a scarf, adding softness and an easy, undone elegance.

The color was created through a hand-dye process using a custom palette chosen by the bride. Soft ivory tones blend into warmer shades toward the hem, giving the dress depth and a one-of-a-kind, almost painterly feel.

The entire gown was handmade and created remotely, since Johanna is based in the US. Every step was shared and developed together, making it a truly collaborative process. It was made to her exact measurements, turning it into something deeply personal.

Worn barefoot and surrounded by nature, this custom wedding dress feels completely in sync with its setting effortless, free-spirited, and real. The result is honestly stunning.

THE BRIDAL LOOK:

features the Saponaria silk slip dress layered with the Helix lace overskirt, finished with the hand painted Vitis silk stole floating weightlessly around the silhouette and the sculptural Nettle shantung belt softly defining the waist. Subtle ivory tones dissolve into warm sun washed shades near the hem, giving the entire look an organic, almost ethereal depth.

Every piece was individually handmade and custom created from the fabric up, entirely tailored to her measurements through a fully bespoke process designed specifically for her silhouette and presence

My Custom MOTHER OF BRIDE Look Designed as Wearable Art

For this wedding, the bride’s mother also wanted something truly special and deeply personal. I designed and handmade her custom look as a one of a kind piece of wearable art, which you can discover in my blog article, A Hand Painted Mother of the Bride Dress Inspired by Watercolor Tones.
